hello,
as many of you know i have been away for quite a long time and haven't been able to post. Finally, i'm home again and almost nothing feels better then my own bed after three weeks. i probably will not be able to write as much because SCHOOL IS STARTING ( that's a positive thing in my head) and there are a lot of things to do in preparation and then there is always homework. While i was away my family and I ate at a lot of amazing places. One of my favorites was a restaurant called Print at the Ink 48 hotel in New York. also while i was away i saw some good friends named Ava and Sara (i also saw a lot of other good friends that i will talk about later). Ava and Sara gave a really cool glass garlic which looking at now makes me think about cooking with garlic.
that's all for now because i have to clean my room :( ,

Baci and birthdays
I would like to start by saying, "Happy Birthday Lola!" as most of you know Loa is my younger sister and today she is turning 10!
Last night we went to a really great Italian restaurant called Baci. For a week ending today i was not eating red meat. Which meant that last night i couldn't get my favorite dish, Spaghetti alla Bolognese has red meat in it so instead i got a pasta with tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil (i can't remember the name of it at the moment). For dessert we got
profiterole which are pastries with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. overall dinner was
delicious and everyone there is always really nice!

last night
Last night was awesome! It turned out that there were a few extra lobsters so we had enough for everyone! the lobster was delicious i ate a whole one and then the claws of another one. yum! In the beginning we had a smoked salmon and pate surf yourself plate out. Next we all sat down and had a delicious caesar salad. for dessert we had strawberry shortcake with homemade whip cream.
Even though the food was really good my favorite part was the fireworks. We set off a bun ofthem in our driveway without really knowing what to do.

4th of July
Happy 4th of July everyone! I'm so excited for fireworks! June, our family friend who loves lobsters, brought a whole box of fireworks and we're going to "launch" them tonight after we have lobster! In addition to the fireworks I'm excited for lobster because we have great geeh and whats better then lobster? Last night we got a little taste of them when we got to light sparklers. Unfortunately, i burned my foot because I forgot to wear shoes and my littlest sister burned her hand because she's 7, so now my dad says "No more sparklers!" boo hoo :(!
This morning my sisters we're getting ice out of the garage for their lemonade stand (which they made excellent homemade lemonade for) when they noticed that the box with all the lobsters had been chewed through and all "the good parts of one of the lobsters," Ruby, the little one, said we're eaten! Looks like someones going to go hungry tonight :)! I hope you all have an excellent 4th of July!
Have fun,
Riley

dinner
For dinner last night my parents took me to an amazing restaurant called Angele. Our server was a man named Roberto, he was really nice and got all our orders right. To begin with we got a Pate De Campagne dish it was practically perfect in every way, as Mary Poppins would say. We also had some scrumptious Foie Gras which had a really good brioshe with it. To drink while the adults enjoyed the 2009 Ancien chardonnay and the 2009 Azure Rose, Ruby, my sister, and I had fresh squeezed lemonade. It was to die for and Ruby drank more of it then she ever drinks of soda. For my entree I originally got skate which was prepared in a brown butter sauce. It was really good, but it was crusted with pepper and i'm not exactly fond of pepper. Luckily, my dad got a delicious salmon dish with arctic char, and a corn and chanterelle succotash and was willing to trade with me. For dessert we got a fried banana dish with vanilla ice-cream and a sweet bread crust. It was also REALLY good, and full of amazing flavors. Over all it w2as a perfect recreation of an authentic high end French bistro and I highly recommend it.
4th of july and kids
So, you know how the 4th of July is coming up? Well I have a family friend who LOVES lobsters so we're having a 4th of July lobster party. I'm super excited because I love lobster and we're going to have fireworks and dancing! All the stuff I love!
Do all of you know how Greg Mortenson is now thought of as a fraud? Well, the same family friend who loves lobsters gave my sisters and I bracelets that say, "What About the kids?" I'd would like everyone who reads this to think about the kids and please pass it on. There are still a lot of kids out there Greg Mortenson helped and now that people have stopped sending money their schools don't have enough money to keep going. So, help them by passing this message on because there are kids you can help.
Happy 4th of July,

to start with
Hey all!
My name is Riley and since my dad is in the wine and food business and I hope to someday be I've decided to blog about the food I eat and make. Do you all know the phrase "you are what you eat"? well that's kind of my theme; I think that what you cook and eat should be an expression of yourself so from now on when I eat or cook something I think expresses me I am going to write about right here. I hope that by doing this I will be able to really appreciate what I eat and that you (being whoever reads my blog) will be inspired to love food for what it is.
Thanks for reading,
Riley
